Read for A. R. (5  March  1790) A. R. is possibly an early abbreviation for George Robinson's New annual register, for which Godwin wrote the ‘British and Foreign History' section from 1784 to 1790 (St. Clair 519). Precisely what Godwin was reading for the journal is not known.
