This was the Monday following the private Saturday opening and dinner of a Royal Academy exhibition. The exhibition featured works by Godwin's friends and acquaintancesHenry Fuseli, John Opie, and James Northcote amongst others. Sir Thomas Lawrence contributed a large-scale portrait of Kemble in Hamlet.
