William Godwin's Diary

Ballachey, G B

  • Name: Ballachey, G B
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date:
  • Death Date:
  • Occupation: money-lender

The editors of Mary Shelley'sJournal identify a G B Ballachey, of the firm Ballachey and Bridger, 5 Angel Court, Throgmorton Street, who negotiated the sale of a post-obit bond in July 1814. Given the intensity of contact with Ballachey in 1814 and the fact that at least four of the visits are made in the company of Shelley, this seems a likely identification.

There are references to Ballachey being a money-lender and partner in the firm Ballachey and Bridges.
