Beddoes was a poet and dramatist with a keen interest in medicine. The son of Dr Thomas Beddoes and Anna Edgeworth (sister of Maria) he co-sponsored the publication of Shelley'sPosthumour Poems in 1824. He spent much of his later life in Germany where he committed suicide in 1828.
