Godwin has a number of contacts with Blaetterman around 1818 (when William junr was 15). The entries point to a connection to William and it seems likely that Blaetterman ran a school, to which Godwin hoped to send William. In 1822 the Times advertised the Polyglot Academy, run by G. Blaetterman, Professor of Ancient and Modern Literature, with premises in 69 Gracechurch Street, and offering teaching in French, Italian, Spanish, German, Latin and Greek languages, uniting grammatical theory with oral practice for two guineas a quarter.
