The Boinville family had a long association with the Godwins. Chastel de Boinville married Harriet Boinville whose father had been involved in Godwin's and Marshall's ventures in the West Indies in the 1780s. Harriet became an enthusiastic disciple of the New Philosophy and the families became close in the 1800s. The Boinvilles were close friends of the Newtons, another family of fervent Godwinians.
