The Abbé Carron was well known for his charitable work and youth education. He moved to London in 1796 in order to keep the spirit of Catholicism alive. He founded the Chapel of St Aloysius in 1808 for the use of French refugees and presided over four schools. The chapel was located on Polygon square, the birthplace of Mary Shelley and residence of Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft.
