Daniel was a watercolour painter elected to the Royal Acdemy in 1822. He was the father of Sophia Gent who painted a portrait of Godwin in 1832. Both 'Daniel' and 'Daniels' have been coded as William Daniel when apropriate (ie when appearing with Gent in the 1830s) as Godwin seems to have been unsure of the spelling. Some earlier 'Daniels' have also been coded thus, but with less certainty; however, Daniel appears with James Northcote which makes the attribution possible.
The Daniels that appear at Thomas Rodd's in 1819 have been coded as the book collector George Daniel (b. 1789) who edited Cumberland's British Theatre (39 vols), and who knew Charles Lamb.
