On 26 November 1787, Dr Richard Price (then in Hackney) writes a note to Godwin introducing Mr Van Effin, a Dutch minister and a neighbour and friend of Dr Price's who wishes to speak to Mr Godwin on the Subject of the late History of the united Provinces.' Given the delay between Price's note and Godwin's entry, and the character of Godwin's entry (send for van Effin), it seems likely that they had met on previous occasions to the sole diary entry.
