Ferdinand VII was King of Spain from 1813 to 1833. Godwin recorded his death. There is also an entry for 14 June 1823: 'Ferdinand VII at Cadiz'. Fedinand was being held a captive in Seville by forces seeking a reintroduction of the 1812 liberal constitution of Cadiz. The European powers were unwilling to tolerate his depsotition and they invaded. Ferdinand was moved from Seville to Cadiz which had held out during the previous French invasion of 1812. Ferdinand was finally freed by the French on 23 September 1823. He promptly took revenge on the reformers.
