The attribution is uncertain but Thomas Gillet printed George Gregory's Letters on Literature, Taste, and Composition (1808) for Richard Philips where Godwin meets Gillet on a number of occasions in 1805, 1806 and 1808. He also seeks Philips, Gillet, and Lackington in 1812 further suggesting that his Gillet is involved in the book trade. The contacts are contained within the period that Godwin runs his bookshop. The British Book Trade Index records his death in 1850.
