  • Name: Greatheed, Bertie
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date: 19  October  1759
  • Death Date: 16  January  1826
  • Occupation: playwright

A member of the literati with radical leanings, who travelled in Europe between 1782 and 1786 and in Florence became an associate and collaborator of Robert Merry. Godwin's entries to him are 1795-7 when the Greatheeds are in England. There are few meetings but a couple are at Debrett's (suggesting a passing literary acquaintance). Greatheed also appears in the 1796 list under 1795, which accords with his entrance into the diary.

Godwin meets him while visiting Warwickshire at Hatton, with Lord Dormer and others. This is most likely a reference to Samuel Parr's residence, in close proximity to Lord Dormer's country seat of Grove Park. The first four contacts are made while Godwin is visiting Warwickshire and all involve Parr. The two 1796 contacts are at Debrett's. Greatheed's family esatate is in Guy's Cliff in Warwickshire.
