Godwin sent (from him and his friend) £10 in 1798 to help a woman in distress to move to Jedburgh through Agnes Hall - who then related that the woman's two elder children had died from the croup and that the money had been used to relieve their suffering. The distressed woman's husband was in a regiment in the West Indies.
There is no evidence of any of this activity in Godwin's diary entries around this time. The only references to Agnes Hall are on 26 February 1827 and 14 February 1834. We cannot be sure that they are identical. This table lists the people this person is most frequently noted with in the diary.
