Supported, indeed seconded, motions for the reform of the Test and Corporations Acts in 1787, 1789, and 1790 and voted for the abolitoon of the slave trade in 1791. Godwin meets him at Timothy Hollis's and sees him (spelt properly as Hoghton, on two subsequent occasions - at the Hackney dinner in 1789 and with the Anti-Tests in 1790. He also appears in the 1796 list for 1788.
