Ives Hurry was a friend of Amelia Aldrerson, having been connected with the family in Norwich (distantly through marriage). Ives Hurry's father ran a merchant business in Threadneadle Street. According to Guest, Hurry was married to the author Margaret Mitchell. His grandfather was a radical sympathiser and his cousin helped defend Thewally when attacked on his trip the Great Yarmouth in 1795. It is possible that Conyers Godwin, Wiliam's brother, was apprenticed to one of the Hurry family in the 1780s, and there is a letter from Godwin justifying his brother's conduct in leaving the apprenticeship early.
