  • Name: Kentish, John
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date: 26  June  1768
  • Death Date: 6  March  1853
  • Occupation: Unitarian minister

There is no direct evidence for this identification and most of the contacts are fairly unrevealing, being plain calls, meets, theatre advs, and dinners with Holcroft. John Kentish was a Unitarian minister, trained at Hackney New College, who worked in Plymouth, then moved to London in 1795 - the same year he enters the diary - working at Newington Green as well as other churches. At the beginning of 1803 he became minister of the New Meeting in Birmingham, which helps to explain his disappearance from the diary. The DNB mentions Kentish's relationship with other Unitarians Godwin knew well, such as Lindsey and Belsham. The 1835 meeting is with Martineau.

In the 1796 lists he appears correctly under 1795.
