  • Name: Kingsman, Henry Long
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date: 1775
  • Death Date:

This is the brother of the Miss Emily Kinsman whom Godwin meets in 1798 and whom he writes to with some enthusiasm. Godwin confuses Kinsman and Kingman and Kingsman. Godwin's letter refers to Miss Kinsman's brother, encouraging him to call. They seem to have met in 1794 at Wedgwood's. It is Henry who replies to Godwin's letter to his sister - one suspects that Godwin addressed it to Miss Kinsman, which might have led to it being read rather openly. Henry replies 'As I have the honour of being known to you, I am desired by my family to acknowledge receipt of your letter, and by sister to return you her thanks for the civil expressions in it adressed to her. She was delighted with meeting a person whose works have been much the subject of consideration in our family circle, and hopes her conversation did not intrude on your time...'
