According to the 1796 list Godwin met T(homas) Knight, DNB, the actor (who features also in The Life of Thomas Holcroft) in 1792 - the entry is to Mr and Mrs Knight . We have worked on the presumption that it is Thomas Knight who accounts for a number of the plain 'Knight' entries, and on whom Godwin calls and who calls on him, between 1792 and 1798. From 1798 there are more frequent references to 'T Knight' and references to 'Rt Knight' are also more common. Where there is considerable uncertainty about the identity of a 'Knight' it has been left uncoded. The Knight recorded in 1807 with Wolcot, and the Mrs Knight recorded in 1806 are likely to be the husband and wife who are Wolcot's landlord - wih Knight taking Wolcot to court for criminal conversation with his wife in 1807.
