See DNB.
Godwin sees him almost entirely in connection with Horne Tooke and there are only eight entries. These include entries for Kid (since these are also at a similar time and in conection with Horne Tooke), and it seems highly likely that Godwin varies the spelling in referring to the same person. Kid entries have accordingly been coded as Kyd.
The first meeting is on 15 November 1794, 'Newgate; Holcroft, Tooke, Thelwal, Kyd, Richter, Joyce, Bosville, Frost
and col. Miles:'
>
Kyd was arrested 29.5.1794 but was then discharged, before being rearrested and committed to the Tower on 7 June 1794 (DNB).
He seems to have been moved to Newgate by the time of Tooke's trial (see Bewley, Gentleman Radical, p. 170).
He was released after Tooke's acquittal on 22.11, so a week before would have still been in Newgate
when G visited, confirming the identification. The next appearance is with Thelwalls and he appears twice at Tooke's in
1798 (spelt 'Kid').
