This is the third cousin of James Lackington (who started the publishing business). However, Godwin's refences do not begin until 1809 and they continue after James's death in 1815 (which goes unrecorded). James had retired in 1798, made over the business to his third cousin George, and left London for Thornbury n Gloucestershire, so Godwin's references seem to be to George rather than James, as St Clair suggests (p. 435)
