Godwin records his death. There are also two instances in the Diary where Godwin mentions writing to Lens.
These letters are not extant and cannot be proved to be the same person, but it does seem quite likely. Lens was a prominent lawyer, and born in Norwich - where he would have been a contemporary of Godwin's (both b. 1756). Godwin may have been writing for professional advice or more personal letters - the DNB says that Lens became seriously ill in 1823.
