Maceroni was a soldier, exiled Italian, inventor and author. According to Margaret Wicks, Italians in Exile, he was a member of the Society of European Constitutionalists, aiming for a complete revolution in Italy. He published his memoirs in 1838.

There is an entry noting 'G Macirone' also in 1824 which may be his wife or a relative.
