Peniston Lamb (1745–1828), a substantial landowner in Derbyshire and Hertfordshire, for many years an MP and from 1770 an Irish peer as first Baron Melbourne (Viscount Melbourne from 1781) father of Lamb, William, second Viscount Melbourne (1779–1848), prime minister.
