Entries are to Perceval's appointment as prime minister (October 1809); to his retention in office when the Prince of Wales abandoned the Whigs in February 1811; and to his assassination in May 1812. Perceval was shot dead in the lobby of the House of Commons by John Bellingham, a merchant with grudge against the British government.
