  • Name: Pigott, Arthur
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date: 19  October  1749
  • Death Date: 6  September  1819
  • Occupation: Lawyer
  • Occupation: Politician

See the first entry on 21 January 1793: 'Erskine and Pigot dismissed' : it is likely that this refers to Arthur Pigott DNB who was dismissed from the ofice of Solicitor General at the end of 1792, because of his political opinions and support for Fox.'The DNB entry says that: 'Fox's good opinion secured him the post of solicitor-general to the prince of Wales in 1783, and a too pronounced adherence to Foxite principles cost him that post in 1792.'

Accordingly, the first Piggott entry has been assumed to be Arthur Pigott. The other entry in 1793 seems more likely to be Charles Pigott.
