See theDNB entry for Anne Plumptre, which also discusses her sister Annabella, and the entry on their brother James Plumptre. Godwin distinguishes between A and B/Bell Plumptre. Entries for Miss Plumptre have been coded for the older sister as it would be conventional to refer to her as Miss Plumptre.

One complication is the fact that the brother, James Plumptre (1770-1832), playwright and Church of England clergyman, has not been coded. He is not as politically engaged as his sisters and there is no evidence that he moved in Godwin's milieu, although he clearly knew Opie and Amelia Alderson. It is possible that Godwin does know him and includes him in 'Plumptres' or that he is referring to him when he enters Plumptre, without an initial or Miss. But, without independent corroboration, we have left these events as coded for the sisters. There are case of singular 'Plumptre' entries - one in London in 1798, two, again in London, in 1818 (very shortly before Anne's death); and five in London in 1819. These may be references to the brother, but he had a living in Great Gransden, Huntingdonshire (near Cambridge), and the calls seem to be a residence in London. They have, accordingly, been coded for Bell Plumptre.

See the entry on her Annabella Plumptre's sister Anne Plumptre and Anne's DNB entry, which discusses both sisters. See also the entry on their brother James Plumptre. Godwin distinguishes between A and B/Bell Plumptre, the former for her sister Anne and the later for Annabella. Entries for Miss Plumptre have been coded for the older sister as it would be conventional to refer to her as Miss Plumptre.
Godwin sees Anne mainly in Norwich, save for a visit in early 1802, when she may be starting on her European tour.
