This is identification is speculative. Gaetano Ravizzotti was the author of several works, but was best known for his Introduction to Italian Grammar(1799); and A new Italian Grammar(1805). It seems he moved to London and was favourably reviewed by the British Critic in 1799. On 6 August 1819, there is an advertisement in the Morning Post for a School for young ladies opening in Paris, near the British Embassy, run by Mr and Mrs Ravizzotti, who have themselves two daughters. It is possible that this is the same Ravizzotti. Godwin's connnection with C Ravizzotti is through Louisa Kenney, who is in Paris in the early 1820s. It is possible that there is some connection with the family because Godwin is called on by Mrs Ravizzotti in 1810, after having met her (linked to Mercier, a relative Louisa Kenney's) in 1809. And C. Ravizzotti may well be one of the daughters (or Mrs Ravizzotti) (possibly befriended by Mrs Kenney), where Godwin meets her in 1829 Although speculative, the name is sufficiently unusual, and the pattern of contact sufficiently plausible, for us to note both Ravizzotti entries with this code.
