The 1790s attributions are sound, given the venues where Godwin meets Rees. We have coded the 31 March 1801 'Call on Ritson, Longman na and Rees (w. M)' as Owen Rees (at that point in the diary, O Rees has not yet been recorded, but the proximity to Longman makes this identification highly probable). 25 April 1803 he notes Dr Rees - which is likely to be Abraham Rees. However a number of entries are much less certain: 30 June 1803 entry 'Meet Rees' ; the 22 January 1806 'adv. Fillingham, Du Bois, Rees, Heath + General'; 7 October 1808 'dine at Johnson’s, w. Fuseli, Bonnycastle and MacArthur: meet Northcote (and Rees); and 5 September 1810 dine at Aldis’s , w. Corry, Rees, Woodham and Hinckley.

The relatively consistent use of O Rees from 1815 suggests that Godwin is concerned to keep the Rees entries apart, but it is only relatively consistent. We have treated Rees as A Rees, prior to 1815, unless there is a clear reference and connection to Longman.
