Godwin records his death ( a day late) but spells it 'Roslyn'. Rosslyn was Lord Chancellor from 1793-1801, having previously been associated with the Whigs. There are two later instances of Rosslyn in 1808. It is possible that these entries refer to Rosslyn's nephew James St Clair Erskine, son of Janet Wedderburn and Sir Henry Erskine, who inherited the title. The entries refer to letters written to 'Cholmondeley , Albemarle + Rosslyn' and a reply from Rosslyn. It is possible these are associated with Godwin's attempts to raise money.
