Not mentioned in the various works on Godwin, nor in Mary Shelley's journal. But Godwin calls on Sturmy reasonably consistently
between 1818 and 1825.
It is possible that this is Herbert Sturmy, Solicitor, first of St Saviour's Churchyard, Southwark; subsequently of Wellington
Street,
London Bridge, who appears as the solicitor in a number of bankrupcy cases.
The pattern of calls suggest a business rather than a social acquaintance, and Godwin would certainly have been drawing on
legal advice in this period.
