Identification uncertain. In The London Stage 1776-1800, Beecher Hogan lists a Taylor who makes his first appearance on the stage on 20 April 1798, Covent Garden. He played the lead in the afterpiece The Waterman where he sang 'Old England's Tree of Liberty'. Hogan notes that he previously sang at Vauxhall which is where he may have gained the soubriquet 'Opera Taylor'.
