Kegan Paul prints Godwin's autobiographical note for 1792, 'During this year I was in the singular situation of an author, possessing some degree of fame for a work still unfinished and unseen. I was introduced on this ground to Mr Mackintosh, David Williams, Joel Balow and others, and with these gentlemen, together with Mr Nicholson and Mr Holcroft, had occasional meetings in which the principles of my work were discussed.' (vol. 1, p. 71) David Williams's first meeting with Godwin is also dated to 1792 in Williams's DNB entry.

There are many other Williams entries in the 1790s that are currently untagged, some of these may be David Williams, eg.

9 March 1794: 'dine w. Thomson, Holcroft, Gawler, Thelwal, Pearson, Fletcher, Williams, Joice & Jones.'

15 December 1794: 'dine at Hazlits , w. Holcrofts, Thelwals, Williams's, Foulkes's & Hunter, T. Cooper, mrs Read'
2 June 1796: 'dine at Northcote's , w. Hoare, Williams & Ne junr:'

These are not coded for David Williams but they are certainly possible instances of Godwin meeting him. Godwin records reading Williams on political liberty in 1795 - Letters on Political Liberty (London, 1782).
