A five act historical tragedy, St Dunstan represents Godwin’s proposed intervention into the debate on the repeal of the Test & Corporation acts. It was revised in late 1795 but was declined for performance by Covent Garden theatre in early 1796, probably due to its political content. It is published in The Plays of William Godwin , ed.
