Only entries two entries, for the end of 1793 and and the beginning of 1794 are coded. Later entries that must refer to another Palmer, since Thomas Fyshe Palmer was put on board a prison transport in February 1794 and never returned to Britain, dying in Guam on his journey home after the expiration of his sentence for sedition. There is nothing to suggest that the other Palmers in the diary have any connection to him.

In Holcroft's journal there is a reference to Palmer junr (not related to T. F. Palmer) whom he identifies as the author of the epilogue to "Lovers' Vows" - a play by Inchbald, based on a piece by the German dramatists Kotzebue, Godwin sees eight times between 1798 and 1827. This might be a reference to one of the eight children of John Palmer (1744–1798), actor. The modern edition of Inchbald's play identifies him as Thomas Palmer, of the Temple. Little is known of him.

There is correspondence with Elihu (or Elisha) Palmer (1764-1806), author of Principles of Nature who sends Godwin a copy of the second edition of his work with a letter in part praising Political Justice. Palmer spent his entire life in the United States.
